TARGA FLORIO RETOUR - 25th to 28th SEPTEMBER 2020

This 3 night - 4 day driving tour starts in Palermo, the capital of Sicily and the traditional start location of the historic Targo Florio.

The Targa Florio was an open road endurance automobile race held in the mountains of Sicily near the island's capital of Palermo. Founded in 1906, it was the oldest sports car racing event and part of the World Sportscar Championship between 1955 and 1973.

The track length in the race's last decades was limited to the 72 kilometres (45 miles) of the Circuito Piccolo delle Madonie, which was lapped 11 times.

Participants in the Targa Florio Retour will use hire cars for the duration of the event. However if you wish to travel from the UK or Europe in your own car this is also perfectly acceptable. The event is non competitive and will follow the route of the original Targa Florio on the piccolo, medio and grande circuits.

Targa Florio Retour Description

Friday

Arriving in Palermo under your own steam, you will be welcomed to the 4 star Hotel Principe di Lampedusa with a refreshment of your choice by the Tour Director. After settling into your bedroom, this evening will be spent enjoying a splendid 3 course welcome dinner in a local restaurant. This is the ideal opportunity to meet and get to know your fellow tour companions.

If arriving by air you have the option of arranging to pick up your hire car at the airport prior to arriving at the hotel.

Saturday

Following a relaxed breakfast, you can pick up your hire car locally in Palermo rather than picking it up at the airport on Friday.

We then head to the Targa Florio PICCOLO circuit to visit the old pit buildings and for one lap of the PICCOLO circuit. Following lunch we then visit the Enna race circuit that afternoon, before returning to Palermo for dinner in a local restaurant.

Sunday

After breakfast we then head to the MEDIO circuit for one full lap of the circuit. Following lunch we then visit the Targa Florio Museum in Collesano.

Returning to the hotel following the end of the tour, our final evening farewell 3 course dinner can be enjoyed in a local restaurant.

Monday

After breakfast and vacating your bedroom, it will be time to say farewell to your fellow tour companions and set out on the journey for home.
